Meissner Introduces Automated Aliquoting System for Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing

Meissner, a provider of filtration and single-use systems for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, has introduced the Automated Aliquoting System (AAS), a single-use solution designed to automate liquid dispensing operations in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

Aliquoting involves dividing a larger quantity of liquid into smaller, measured portions for subsequent processing, testing or storage. The procedure is commonly used in biotechnology manufacturing and laboratory workflows.

Meissner's system is intended to reduce the manual intervention required during these operations while supporting controlled fluid handling. The platform is designed to standardize the filling and transfer of bulk cell culture media, buffers, and other process solutions into final single-use biocontainers ranging from 1 to 20 liters.

The single-use approach also aims to limit cleaning and sterilization requirements associated with reusable processing equipment.

For biopharmaceutical manufacturers, automation can help improve process consistency, particularly when production involves repeated dispensing operations or materials requiring careful handling.

The introduction reflects broader adoption of automated, single-use technologies in pharmaceutical manufacturing, where contamination prevention and operational flexibility are important considerations.

For engineering and manufacturing IT teams, such systems highlight the increasing role of automated equipment in regulated production environments.

Organizations evaluating automated aliquoting equipment must also consider process validation, equipment integration and documentation requirements to ensure operations meet applicable manufacturing quality standards.
