Oracle Health Expands Clinical AI Agent with Coding and Chart Review

Oracle Health, a provider of health care technology and clinical software, has expanded its Clinical AI Agent with capabilities for automated coding, dictation and chart review, broadening the system beyond its existing clinical documentation functions.

The agent can now generate suggested medical codes from clinical documentation, with the goal of reducing manual coding work associated with patient encounters. Oracle is also adding dictation capabilities that let clinicians create documentation by voice and tools for reviewing patient charts before an appointment. The AI agents work together as a system and use semantic reasoning to understand clinical meaning, share context across workflows, and collaborate in near real time to support intelligent automation while keeping clinicians in control.

Chart review uses AI to surface relevant information from a patient's record, potentially reducing the time clinicians spend searching through historical documentation. Combined with dictation and coding, the additions extend the agent across more stages of the clinical documentation workflow.

Automated coding is particularly consequential because coding decisions affect billing, reimbursement, and compliance. AI-generated recommendations therefore require review processes and auditability alongside measures protecting the sensitive clinical information used by the system.
