Monod Bio Licenses AI-Designed Proteins for Drug Discovery Assays

Monod Bio, a Seattle-based AI-enabled protein design company, has licensed two of its AI-designed protein technologies to SignalChem Biotech, a subsidiary of Sino Biological, for use in custom drug discovery and life sciences research services. The nonexclusive agreement covers Monod Bio’s LuxSit de novo luciferase technology and NovoBodies.

SignalChem can incorporate the technologies into custom luminescent assay development and protein-fusion services provided to third-party research customers. Financial terms were not disclosed.

LuxSit is an AI-designed luciferase engineered for use in luminescent biosensors. NovoBodies are compact, stable binding proteins designed to recognize different biological targets. Both originated from Monod Bio’s use of AI-powered de novo protein design to develop proteins for research and diagnostic applications.

The licensing deal extends those computationally designed proteins beyond Monod Bio’s own development efforts and into SignalChem’s contract research organization services. SignalChem provides reagents and CRO services for drug discovery and life sciences research, while parent company Sino Biological operates facilities across Asia, North America and Europe.
