SK Bioscience Launches AI Initiative to Support Vaccine Development Decisions

SK Bioscience, an innovative vaccine and biotech company, has launched an AI-powered initiative designed to support decision-making throughout the vaccine development process, with the goal of improving research efficiency and reducing uncertainty. The initiative, known as the Research Optimization & Trial Outcome Recommender (ROTOR) project, is an AI-powered evidence synthesis and clinical development decision-support platform initiative funded by the Gates Foundation.

The initiative applies artificial intelligence to analyze scientific, clinical and operational data that can influence vaccine development strategies. By generating data-driven insights, the platform is intended to help researchers prioritize development pathways and make more informed decisions during preclinical and clinical programs. ROTOR is designed to build a platform that leverages AI to analyze diverse clinical, immunogenicity, and scientific datasets generated throughout the vaccine development process.

SK Bioscience said the effort reflects its broader investment in digital technologies to enhance research and development. The company expects AI-assisted analysis to help streamline development workflows while supporting evaluations of safety, efficacy and commercialization opportunities.
