PDS Health, a leading U.S. healthcare support organization, on Tuesday announced the launch of PDS Health Technologies, a new division aimed at extending its data-driven care infrastructure and expanding access to integrated electronic health record (EHR) solutions across a broader network of providers.
The move builds on more than a decade of investment by PDS Health in connecting dental and medical services through unified systems. It was the first major dental organization to adopt the Epic EHR system across its supported practices. That platform now supports more than 1,000 locations nationwide, streamlining operations and improving care coordination by linking dental and medical records in a single patient history.
With the introduction of PDS Health Technologies, the company is opening its model to external healthcare organizations. Through Epic Community Connect, hospitals, dental providers, and medical practices can now gain access to shared EHR infrastructure supported by comprehensive training, system management, and implementation assistance.
"PDS Health Technologies builds on our long-standing commitment to supporting providers with the systems and expertise to deliver integrated, connected care," said Stephen E. Thorne IV, founder and CEO of PDS Health, in a statement. By expanding these capabilities to a broader network of healthcare organizations, we are accelerating the adoption of smarter, more integrated solutions and improving the way care is delivered."
In addition to EHR integration, the new unit will offer revenue cycle management services to help organizations improve financial performance, as well as consulting and operational support for practice optimization, staffing, and leadership development.
The initiative is being led by Preston Raulerson, a 20-year veteran in healthcare IT and former executive at Optum, The Advisory Board Company, and Epic Systems. Raulerson now serves as president of PDS Health Technologies and is tasked with guiding its strategy and nationwide expansion.
With pressure mounting on healthcare organizations to improve outcomes while reducing costs, the launch of PDS Health Technologies signals an effort to export tested, scalable infrastructure to providers looking to modernize their systems. The company said its goal is to “simplify the complexity behind care delivery” and empower organizations to coordinate across disciplines and make more informed clinical decisions.
