Rohde & Schwarz Launches PC-Based Oscilloscope Software

Rohde & Schwarz has unveiled new PC-based oscilloscope software designed to extend the functionality of its MXO series oscilloscopes. R&S ScopeStudio was designed to allow engineers to visualize, analyze, document, and share measurement data from their computers with the aim of enhancing collaboration and productivity for development teams.

R&S ScopeStudio users can import oscilloscope waveforms or entire sessions, including captured data and instrument setups, for analysis on a PC.

R&S ScopeStudio provides three key benefits:

  • Increased Accessibility: Engineers can review and analyze data remotely, leaving the oscilloscope hardware free for other team members.
  • Enhanced Documentation: PC-based tools streamline the creation of detailed design documentation with high-quality images and annotations, boosting workflow efficiency.
  • Improved Collaboration: Development teams can easily share measurement results with remote colleagues, partners, suppliers, and customers, simplifying technical communication across locations.

"R&S ScopeStudio enables users to leverage the power of their MXO oscilloscopes beyond the lab," a Rohde & Schwarz representative stated. "It is a versatile tool for engineers to enhance efficiency in designing and testing complex systems."

The software comes with a range of standard features, including R&S SmartGrid, cursor-based analysis, more than 40 automated measurements, mathematical functions, signal filters, and spectrum viewing for time-domain signals. Upcoming updates will support protocol decoding for popular serial buses like I2C, SPI, CAN, LIN, and ARINC 429, among others, making it a comprehensive solution for various industries.

By enabling oscilloscope functionality on PCs, R&S ScopeStudio caters to the growing demand for flexible, remote-friendly tools in the engineering sector. It aims to bridge gaps in research and development workflows by making measurement data more accessible and shareable across teams and stakeholders.

The R&S ScopeStudio software is compatible with the R&S MXO 4, MXO 5, and MXO 5C oscilloscopes. It is available now, priced at €550 for a perpetual license.
