Nvidia Announces Omniverse Expansion
Omniverse, Nvidia's platform for bringing together 3D-related technologies and communities, this week announced a major expansion of its supporting ecosystem.
Not only did the company update its own Omniverse apps, it also announced new connections with programs like Maxon Cinema 4D, Adobe Substance 3D Material Extension, Epic Games Unreal Engine, TurboSquid by Shutterstock, LumenRT, approximately 26 different CAD formats and many, many other integrations.
Updates to its suite of Omniverse software include:
-
Omniverse Code, a new app for developers to build Omniverse extensions.
-
DeepSearch, a new app for AI-based searching of large, untagged 3-D image libraries.
-
Omniverse Replicator, a 3-D environment replicator for perception networks.
- Several new apps aimed at avatars and VR applications.
While Omniverse does have consumer usage, Nvidia emphasized its B2B applications -- for example, with this announcement, it took the opportunity to cite a case study where Amazon and Pepsi are using Omniverse Enterprise to streamline their logistics.
3-D technology has long been in use in the medical field for modeling, training and designing, among other uses.
