Akso Health Integrates DeepSeek AI to Improve Medical Diagnostics

Akso Health Group announced on Monday that it has integrated DeepSeek's artificial intelligence technology into its medical consultation and diagnostic processes. The company aims to improve diagnostic accuracy, streamline healthcare resource allocation, and enhance efficiency in patient care.

Akso, formerly known as Xiaobai Maimai Inc., specializes in medical device sales in China and the United States, along with operating radiotherapy oncology centers in the U.S. In March 2024, the company expanded into online medical consultations through its acquisition of Tianjin Deyihui Internet Hospital Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Deyihui Clinic Co., Ltd., providing services for initial diagnosis, follow-up consultations, and chronic disease management.

DeepSeek, a Hangzhou-based startup, launched a free AI assistant that has reportedly surpassed OpenAI’s ChatGPT in downloads. The company has said that its R1 model is 20 to 50 times cheaper to operate than OpenAI’s cutting-edge systems.

Akso Health will use DeepSeek’s deep learning frameworks and data processing capabilities to upgrade its AI-powered diagnosis system. The updated system will incorporate patient text descriptions, medical imaging, and laboratory test results, applying natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning to assist in diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations.

Additionally, the company is developing an AI-powered medical assistant to help doctors retrieve patient records, analyze similar cases, and suggest treatment options. The system is designed to support clinical decision-making and improve workflow efficiency while ensuring user-friendly interactions for patients.

"The integration of DeepSeek’s technology will help us improve diagnostic accuracy and provide more effective healthcare services," said Yilin (Linda) Wang, CEO of Akso Health, in a statement.

Akso Health says the company will use DeepSeek’s deep learning frameworks and data processing capabilities to upgrade its AI-powered diagnosis system. The updated system will incorporate patient text descriptions, medical imaging, and laboratory test results, applying natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning to assist in diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations.

Akso Health says it will continue to explore AI applications in research and development, health management, and telemedicine as part of its broader strategy to enhance its digital healthcare offerings.
